Last night America gave racism, fear, and negative campaigning a sound spanking to elect its first not an old white guy president. This morning we all woke up… and it still looked the same outside. It’s an amazing time to be an American, history has been made, but there’s still plenty to be done.
For instance, what are the odds that we’ll ever see a gay president? In our lifetime? Gay people can't even get married. Well they could, in California anyway, at least until last night when the state voted to unmarry them. Convenient for any gay couples looking for divorce, but a pretty jerky move to pull on the ones who were digging the whole domestic bliss thing. Harvey Milk was one man who thought homosexual equality was possible, when he became the first openly gay elected official in San Francisco.
