First Look At Saoirse Ronan In Vampire Drama Byzantium
There is a great deal of under-20 acting talent in Hollywood, particularly in the women category. In recent years we've discovered the incredible talents of young actresses like Hailee Steinfeld, Chloe Moretz, and Dakota Fanning, but not to be ignored in Saoirse Ronan. Appearing on everyone's radar when she earned an Oscar nomination for her performance in Atonement, Ronan has since lent her abilities to such titles as The Lovely Bones, Hanna, City of Ember and The Way Back. Her next movie, the Neil Jordan-directed Byzantium, is due out later this year and today we have our first look at her character.
You may remember the set photos of Gemma Arterton that came out a few months ago, but now Deadline has revealed our first look at Eleanor Webb, who happens to be Arterton's character's daughter (and seems to share an affinity for red clothing. Check out the image below and in high-res over at the source.
Ronan does play a vampire in the movie and if you look closely you can see that she has some blood on her fingers that one can guess isn't her own. She doesn't appear to be licking it up in a fit of blood lust and she does look rather pensive, so perhaps she has killed somebody that she actually cares about? It's also worth nothing that it appears she is out in the daylight, and while that hood looks thick, I don't think it should be enough to prevent her from turning to ash.
Based on the Moira Buffini play, Byzantium tells the story of a man caught in between mother and daughter vampires who have agreed to a deadly pact. In addition to Ronan and Arterton, the film also stars Jonny Lee Miller, Sam Riley, and Caleb Landry Jones. Look out for the title when it premieres later this year.
