The Colin Farrell In Justice League Rumors? Here's What We Know

Colin Farrell

Colin Farrell has built a solid Hollywood career across many genres of movies for nearly two decades, but comic book movie fans know him as Bullseye in the 2003 Daredevil movie. Given the movie's mixed reception and his over-the-top performance as the accurate assassin, that's not the greatest place for Farrell to leave the genre, but there's a slim chance he might not be done with the world of superheroes. There's a new rumor saying that the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them star is being considered to join Justice League.

A Russian Twitter account called CutTheCrapTV is reporting that Colin Farrell and Game of Thrones actor Michiel Huisman are both supposedly up for roles in Justice League, which is still deep into principal photography in London. When put through a translator, it roughly reads: "AHA! These guys ... Negotiate participation in #JusticeLeague. This is such a film. #DC." You can check out this strange tweet for yourself below.

Obviously this Justice League rumor should be taken with a major grain of salt, primarily because if this news is indeed legitimate, why is it breaking on a Russian website rather than somewhere more established? However, this isn't the first time Colin Farrell has been connected to a DC movie. Last year, it was rumored that he was being considered to play John Constantine in the Justice League Dark movie, a.k.a. Dark Universe. However, there's been no indication that the trench coat-wearing occultist, let alone any magic users in the DC universe, will appear in Justice League, so a Constantine appearance is unlikely.

Still, that doesn't mean Colin Farrell couldn't play another important character. Steppenwolf, the main antagonist, still hasn't ben cast yet, and even though he's said to be a CGI creation, Farrell could still voice him and even play him through motion capture. Nevertheless, his and Michiel Huisman's rumored involvement in Justice League seems sketchy at best, so until the castings gets confirmed by a more reputable source, it's best not to get your hopes up about either of them joining the DC team-up movie.

There's still a lot being kept secret about Justice League, but the movie's general plot will follow Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg and eventually Superman joining forces to battle Steppenwolf, who has come to Earth to seize the three Mother Boxes left behind tens of thousands of years ago. The supporting cast so far consists of J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

With or without Colin Farrell, Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
