WWE 2K16 Roster Adds 12 More Wrestlers

Yukes, Visual Concepts and 2K Games are working presumably hard to finish up WWE 2K16 in time for its October release on seventh gen and eighth gen home consoles. Leading up to its release the publisher and WWE have been working together to roll out new information on the roster, including 12 new wrestlers who have been revealed as part of the massive 120 wrestler roster.

Game Informer does a brief rundown of the 12 characters revealed to be on the roster, and this includes Booker T, Colonel Mustafa, Emma, Eva Marie, General Adnan, Kalisto, Kane, Lord Steven Regal, Sin Cara, Summer Rae, Tamina and Triple H. These 12 will join Stone Cold Steve Austin, Arnold as the Terminator, John Cena, Finn Balor and many more in WWE 2K16.

Uproxx takes it a step further and showcases the entrance for Kalisto in a trailer that you can check out below.

You know, it's weird that entrances are still these separate things from the match itself. In a lot of indie wrestling games they have the entrances and matches connect so that players can manually interrupt entrances if they want. I always thought that was really cool. It just seems like now that we're in 2015 we would see that feature in an AAA wrestling game. Maybe next year?

Anyway, it's cool that Steven Regal is on the roster. I didn't really like him or his wrestling style at all during his WCW and early WWE days, but as he got older he had some amazing matches, especially that absolutely brutal match he had against Chris Benoit where they were whipping out tiger suplexes, full-nelson suplexes and all sorts of crazy moves in between. I remember that match in particular because Benoit chopped Regal hard enough that he nearly keeled over, but as he was bent over Benoit chopped him across the forehead and straightened him out. Brutal.

The general consensus amongst fans is that graphically the game looks good and there seems to be at least one person on the roster that appeals to everyone, but there are worries that the game will be a less than spectacular outing like WWE 2K15 and WWE 2K14 before it. On the plus side for PC gamers they can just model swap or mod in whatever isn't in WWE 2K15. They still can't do anything about the stiff looking wrestling and lack of ring psychology.

For now a lot of gamers are curious what the rest of the 120 character roster looks like. For example, I wonder whether Hulk Hogan will be added back into the game as DLC when his current controversy dies down or is he gone for good? I'm sure we'll find out more leading up to the game's release this fall.
