Seeing Adam Sandler On The Carpet In Sweats Next To His Beautifully Dressed Family Is Classic
Hey, sometimes you just gotta be comfortable.
After a brief period of amping up his red-carpet game, Adam Sandler has slid back into what's comfortable in a recent appearance with his wife and two daughters. The actor rocked a blue golf polo with pink flamingos, but the fact that he paired it with darker blue slick sweatpants is absolutely sending me.
His wife, Jackie Sandler, and daughters, Sunny and Sadie, chose something more formal for the premiere of Don't Say Good Luck, which will be available with a Netflix subscription on August 14th. They're beautifully dressed, and so is Adam Sandler... but more in a casual Saturday afternoon at home kind of way. Take a look:
It seems as though all that work George Clooney put into Sandler during the Jay Kelly press tour has gone to waste. Sweatpants on the red carpet would be a big fashion no-no for most actors, but many don't have the type of reputation and clout that Adam Sandler does.
Sandler has a history of dressing comfortably, having been known for wearing baggy clothing as far back as his days on Saturday Night Live. When asked why he remarked it was to hide his body, noting that when he was younger, it was to surprise people when he turned out to be ripped. These days, he claims it's to hide his body, though I don't think he looks incredibly different.
Ultimately, there are far bigger crimes against fashion that Adam Sandler has committed over the years. In fact, Sunny Sandler recently revealed that he wears socks in the pool, being unable to bend over to remove them. If being forced to choose between getting in a pool with socks or not swimming, I'm going to choose the latter.
Fashion aside, I love seeing the Sandler family in tow to see Sunny's premiere for Don't Say Good Luck, which also stars Max Greenfield and Melanie Lynskey. The movie centers around a high school theater kid whose big role in Waitress becomes complicated as family drama goes on at home. I would speculate the issue isn't that her dad wore sweatpants to the premiere, but that would be incredibly meta on Adam Sandler's part if that were the case.
It's the latest role for Sunny Sandler, after an eventful year full of appearances the previous year. With her racking up roles in Hollywood, I have to wonder if decades from now we'll see her following in her father's footsteps and rocking baggy clothes on the red carpet with her own children? It doesn't appear like that'll happen based on what she's wearing above, but it would be pretty funny.

As mentioned, catch Don't Say Good Luck on Netflix on August 14th. There's lots of other great shows and movies headed to Netflix, so now is just as good a time as any to make sure that subscription is active.
