The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Synopsis Sets Up Multiple Villains

"Enemies?" "Villains?" As in plural? These are the word that jump out at me in Sony’s official synopsis for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which we’re pasting below. We know about Electro (Jamie Foxx). We’ve been picking up the hints about The Rhino (Paul Giamatti) and a version of the Green Goblin. What other threats might Peter Parker (Andrew Garifled) face?

Here’s the official synopsis for Webb’s Spidey sequel:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Sony is preparing us for a full-blown assault of Amazing Spider-Man 2 marketing. The trailer drops on Thursday, Dec. 5. Leading up to that, we have seen international versions of three very quick teasers, followed by U.S. cuts showing the same footage. They’re on the movie’s Facebook page, and here:

That second one is significant, as it shows Spidey swinging toward the OsCorp tower. And from everything we have been hearing, OsCorp is going to be the root of most (if not all) of Spider-Man’s problems. In fact, we’re confident that you are going to see – in the new trailer – a MAJOR hint at the existence of The Sinister Six … and it will tie through OsCorp (and that strange dude in the mid-credits sequence from Amazing Spider-Man).

But more on that after everyone has seen the trailer. It’s coming soon. And Amazing Spidey 2 will be in theaters on May 2, 2014. Did anything else in the official synopsis catch your eye?
