Here's How Close Tom Hiddleston Is To Playing James Bond

Everybody has his or her own opinion as to what makes a proper James Bond. Roger Moore fans loved his campy and comical knack for one-liners, while fans of the Daniel Craig era seem to enjoy his more grounded, visceral approach to the character. With rumors swirling that Craig won’t return for the twenty-fifth Bond movie, the task has fallen upon the folks at Eon to try and find a new actor to fill the iconic tux. One such actor whose name has gone around the rumor mill is none other than Tom Hiddleston, which has us wondering one thing: how close is he to actually getting the part?

According to a new report from Birth. Movies. Death, sources close to Tom Hiddleston have confirmed that the actor has met with Eon about possibly taking over the role of James Bond from Daniel Craig. However, while the actor has met for serious talks about the part, no concrete offers have been made at this point.

Tom Hiddleston has arguably become his own most outspoken advocate for the role of James Bond. He clearly has a passion for the character and has aggressively lobbied for the part ever since Daniel Craig started to show signs of fatigue. It will be interesting to see how this situation pans out as time goes on, because casting Hiddleston could be represent arguably the safest possible route for Eon.

Unlike the historically left-field choice of Daniel Craig for 2006’s Casino Royale, Tom Hiddleston has proven time and time again that he firmly fits the Bond mold. Not only does he have a proven pedigree in major blockbuster franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but his work on projects like The Night Manager and High-Rise have shown his ability to play darkly suave, brooding characters. He’s not a controversial pick like Idris Elba or Jamie Bell, and he would certainly please many fans that have similarly lobbied for him to take over the role.

Whether or not we actually have a new Bond on our hands remains to be seen. These talks could soon materialize into a new casting announcement, or they could simply represent a means to galvanize Daniel Craig into donning the tux one more time. We will keep you posted regarding all of the best updates related to the next potential 007 as they become available. Stay tuned for more details.
