Man Of Steel Villain Antje Traue Cast In The Seventh Son

Legendary Pictures must be pretty pleased with the work Antje Traue did on Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel, as Variety reports the production company just tapped her for one of their next projects, The Seventh Son.

The East German actress remains a relative unknown at this point, with acting credits including Renny Harlin’s little-seen 5 Days of War and the horror film Pandorum. But she’ll raise her profile significantly once audiences see her as the villain Faora in Snyder’s Steel, which recently wrapped shooting and will head into an extensive post-production process in preparation for its anticipated June 14, 2013 release date.

Traue, meanwhile, will move on to Son, a feature once working under the title The Spook’s Apprentice that centers around the seventh son of a seventh son who, in the 1700s, begins to study witchcraft and wizardry. The story is based on author Joseph Delaney’s young adult series, and already has tapped Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes and Alicia Vikander for its ensemble. Russian director Sergey Bodrov, best known for the 2007 drama Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan, is on board to helm the film.

Pioneering studios continue to search for the next teen-lit series that will fill the void left by Harry Potter and the departing Twilight saga. It’s likely we won't see anything as massive as either of those two franchises for a long while, but that won’t stop The Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, and a handful of other literary franchises from attempting to extend the magic.
