Watch Spider-Man Fight An Avenger In Latest Captain America: Civil War Spot

We’re not sure if you’ve heard, but Captain America: Civil War is kind of a big deal. It’s racked up a healthy box office total before even making it to its second weekend. Marvel Studios, of course, wants you to know that the movie is a big deal, as they still want you to go see it, or see it again if you have once already. As such, their newest TV spot sings the praises of Civil War while also teasing you with a shot from one of superhero battles you may not be aware takes place, Captain America vs. Spider-Man. Check it out.

If you haven’t already seen Captain America: Civil War, then, other than there being something terribly wrong with you, this may be the first you’ve seen of this particular one-on-one encounter. We’ve seen Spider-Man go after The Winter Soldier in other clips, but the movie does include a healthy sequence of a fight between the wall crawler and Civil War’s title character. We promise not to delve into spoiler territory. There’s a fight, that’s all we’ll say. Oh, it’s a cool fight, we’ll say that too.

While Captain America: Civil War is truly a Captain America movie, much of the praise for the film has been pointed at the two new characters, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther. Both characters join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and are easily integrated into the fold. After waiting so long to see Spider-Man as part of the rest of Marvel’s film series, he already feels like a character who has been there the whole time. Much of that is certainly due to the audience's existing familiarity with the character. When you’re dealing with Spider-Man, you don’t need to mess with an introduction. We’ve already met.

At the same time, this Spider-Man is different than those who have come before him. He’s younger, something that shines through, even from behind a mask. This makes the Spider-Man of Captain America: Civil War both familiar and unusual. Plus, we’ve never seen any other Spider-Man ever take a vibranium shield to the face. That’s totally new.
