The X-Men Actor Who Really Wants To Team Up With Deadpool

Warning: spoilers ahead for X-Men: Apocalypse!

The misunderstood Marvel mutants will once again fight tooth and nail to save the world this weekend with X-Men: Apocalypse finally hitting theaters. With a new continuity established by Days of Future Past, it looks like a whole new stable of X-Men character will soon enter this massive universe and strike out in a variety of new directions. Although many of these mutants will end up joining Charles Xavier’s team of heroes full time, one particularly deadly member of Apocalypse’s ensemble wants to team up with Wade Wilson in the near future.

Speaking with USA Today about her role in X-Men: Apocalypse, Olivia Munn revealed that she would like to see her character Psylocke show up in an X-Force movie alongside Deadpool. She said:

That would be a really cool thing to do. What he did with Deadpool was genius and I’m so excited for him. It would definitely be cool to see Deadpool and some of the other X-Men characters gather for an X-Force movie. I think that’s what the whole world is coming to — everybody unites together, right? It’s never just one character anymore. We all just become one movie.

20th Century Fox making this happen wouldn’t surprise any of us in the least. Psylocke is a sword-wielding badass with minimal qualms about taking lives to get the job done – just like Deadpool – and her history in the comics often portrays her as a member of the black-ops X-Force team – also like Deadpool. With Ryan Reynolds currently carving out a more adult-oriented, R-rated corner of the X-Men universe for his wildly popular character, it wouldn’t be that shocking for us to see him and Psylocke hacking and slashing their way through hordes of bad guys in their own team-up movie.

This sort of team up definitely seems to be more or less implied by the ending of X-Men: Apocalypse. During the climactic showdown against En Sabah Nur, every one single one of the Four Horsemen receives some form of definitive closure except for Psylocke. Angel is killed; Magneto and Storm betray the ancient mutant, and Psylocke just sort of walks off into the sunset like Sergio Leone's Man with No Name. The overall implication for this character’s ambiguous ending seems to be that she’ll rear her head again at some point – ideally as a member of X-Force alongside mutants like Deadpool and Cable.

After seeing Psylocke’s badass sword wielding skills in X-Men: Apocalypse, it seems unlikely that anyone would object to her signing on to work alongside Deadpool. Whether or not this actually happens remains to be seen, but the events of the latest X-Men adventure seem to indicate that it’s a distinct likelihood. X-Men: Apocalypse is in theaters now, so be sure to check it out.
