We Finally Know What The Goldie Hawn/Amy Schumer Movie Will Be About

It's a phenomenal time for woman driven comedies in Hollywood. Female comics have continuously broken down barriers over the last few years and provided some of the most hilarious cinematic outings in recent memory. This tradition seems poised to continue as Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer -- two comedic icons from different eras -- will soon team up to play mother and daughter, respectively. The highly anticipated project has more or less remained under wraps in recent months, but it now seems that we finally have some concrete information regarding the nature of the film's story.

According to a new report from Collider, it appears that new details regarding the actual story of Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer's currently untitled mother/daughter film have finally surfaced. During a recent interview, screenwriter Katie Dippold explained that the film revolves around a daughter who takes her recently divorced and somewhat neurotic mother on a trip to an Amazon rainforest. Something goes seriously wrong during the course of their vacation, and the film follows them as they embark on a mad dash to make it to an American embassy.

Boiled down to its basic elements, it's a typical road-trip movie that has the added benefit of two of the strongest female comedians from two different cinematic eras. Katie Dippold would go on to explain this particular story is actually based upon her own experienced with her mother's recent divorce, and her own fantasy about getting her mother back out into the world. Some of the best comedy comes from the most personal of places, so this has us holding out hope that the film maintains that comedic tradition.

One of the most interesting things to note about this upcoming collaboration between Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer is the simple fact that it could very well represent a major watershed moment for the former's career. This film will mark Hawn's first appearance in a feature film in 15 years, so we have to assume that the quality material proved more than enough to bring her back to the silver screen. If this endeavor proves successful it remains entirely plausible that this could mark the beginning of a serious comeback for the Hollywood legend.
