Meet Suicide Squad’s Creepy Enchantress In New Clip

While the summer is slowly winding down, there's one major blockbuster that we still have to look forward to. The next entry into the DC Extended Universe, and possibly the saving grace for the studio, is Suicide Squad, which will fly into theaters on August 5th. This villain-centric blockbusters features some of Batman's most famous villains, but also a few rogues who perhaps fans aren't as familiar with. One of these lesser known characters is The Enchantress, played by actress and model Cara Delevigne.

The trailer and footage of Suicide Squad have been mostly focused on the other members of the squad, especially Harley Quinn, but a new video was just released which is all about Enchantress. Check it out below.

Pretty awesome, right? I wasn't super invested in Enchantress before, but after this clip I'm eager to see how the interesting and dark character contributes to the conflict and the overall film.

This clip, which comes to us from ComicBook.com and was first aired during Jimmy Kimmel Live, opens with Enchantress looking pretty normal and put together. After doing some sort of spell or charm, we see a dark hand grip Cara Delevingne's and a transformation occurs. This ritual seems to be what summons Enchantress, which Amanda Waller describes as an entity which has "walked the earth for a very long time and will likely be here when we're long gone". The character herself looks straight up terrifying, and I'm ready to see what her dark magic is capable throughout the run of Suicide Squad.

This clip is illuminating in a few ways. For one, Amanda Waller, played by the incomparable Viola Davis, got to show her personality more than we'd seen in the trailers. Not just a hard ass with a controversial plan, Waller seems to have some humor about her. After explaining Enchantress' powers, she looks at the witch and straight faced tells her to "go get it girl", which definitely got me laughing. This juxtaposition of humor and darkness is what Suicide Squad is going to be all about.

Additionally, it also appears that Amanda Waller will be responsible for the mission that the Suicide Squad will have. Clearly Waller attempts to channel the strength of Enchantress, but it doesn't bode too well; an ancient powerful force probably doesn't want some mortal ordering it around. Because Waller's plan backfires and she decides a squad of criminals are the way out, it looks like Waller has a lot to lose if the mission doesn't go as expected.

I think it's also safe to say that Enchantress might not make it out of Suicide Squad in one piece. The dialogue heavy-handedly states that Enchantress is nearly immortal, but I'm sure this will change when the team of villains hits the scene.

What did you think of the above clip? Are you excited to see more of The Enchantress, or are you ok with Killer Croc and Harley Quinn? Sound off in the comments below.
