Tyrese Gibson's Issues With Dwayne Johnson Are Officially Over

The Fast and Furious franchise has lived up to its name in recent weeks, as one of the action series' stars appears to have grown increasingly angry with one another. Specifically, the feud between Tyrese Gibson and The Rock reached a boiling point earlier this week when Gibson threatened to walk away from the series if The Rock remained onboard for future installments. That said, it now seems that Gibson has changed his tune, as he has apparently spoken to an associate of Dwayne Johnson in an effort to establish détente. Gibson took to social media to address the Fast and Furious drama and posted:

Though he doesn't explicitly say who he spoke to in that post, Tyrese Gibson's caption seems to explain there has definitely been communication between the two camps. The two chrome-domed action heroes appear to have started to come to an agreement on how to proceed with the future of the franchise, and Gibson himself has been firmly reminded that the core of the series is the concept of family. This idea is bolstered further by the return of longtime Fast and Furious director Justin Lin -- who helps remind the cast of the late Paul Walker's legacy.

As I said earlier, this situation has evolved at a breakneck pace in recent days. It all started when Tyrese Gibson called Dwayne Johnson out for essentially hijacking the Fast and Furious franchise when the Luke Hobbs/Deckard Shaw spinoff was announced. From there, Gibson seemed to continue to become agitated about the issue, culminating in his threat to quit his role as Roman Pierce. After all of that, it looks like things have finally started to settle down.

This feud comes after a series of other issues that have grabbed headlines in the world of the Fast and Furious films. Last year it was Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel who got into a public spat -- although whether or not that was actually just a ruse designed to generate publicity has been bandied about and remains unconfirmed at this point. Moreover, Michelle Rodriguez made many fans anxious earlier this year when she threatened to potentially walk away from her role as Letty Ortiz Toretto in response to the Fast and Furious series' handling of its female characters.

Given the way things have evolved so rapidly in the world of the Fast and Furious franchise, we will bring you any and all relevant updates as new information about these feuds becomes available to us. The Hobbs/Shaw-focused Fast and Furious spinoff is set to debut in theaters on July 26, 2019, and Fast and Furious 9 will premiere the following year on April 10, 2020. Take a look at what we know about the upcoming ninth installment.
