Both the Oscars and the Emmys opted for host-free telecasts in 2019, with varying results, but the Golden Globes was quick to secure comedian Ricky Gervais to lead the 77th annual awards ceremony. With Gervais already tapped for his fifth round as Globes host, all that was left to do was wait for the deluge of nominees to get announced, and that day has finally arrived!

The year 2019 was a pretty remarkable one on screens both big and small, with a plethora of potential nominees to fill up the Golden Globes' categories. Comic book entertainment reached dizzying heights with Avengers: Endgame, Joker and HBO's Watchmen, while Brit-focused projects like Rocketman, The Crown and Downton Abbey took U.S. audiences by storm. The year brought the comedic return of Eddie Murphy, the dramatic return of Adam Sandler, and the harrowing returns of many Breaking Bad characters.

Without further ado, here are all the big film nominees for the 77th Golden Globe Awards.
