A Law And Order Character Is Making A Comeback On Chicago Justice

Tovah Feldshuh

Superheroes may get the credit when it comes interconnected universes, but Dick Wolf's Chicago series have done some admirable work in the field as well. Not only do Chicago Med, P.D., and Fire regularly mash up, but they also share characters and plot threads with the Law & Order franchise. With the upcoming debut of Chicago Justice set for this spring, those connections are only going to become more pronounced, and the new series just made its biggest connection to the new legal drama, as Tovah Feldshuh has officially signed on to reprise her role of Danielle Melnick.

Tovah Feldshuh is currently set to return to her fan-favorite Law & Order role as Danielle Melnick during the three-way Chicago series crossover in March that will pave the way for the Chicago Justice debut on March 5. Now a judge, the former defense attorney will preside over an arson case prosecuted by Chicago Justice lead Peter Stone (Philip Winchester) against defense lawyer Albert Forest (Bradley Whitford), according to TVLine. Feldshuh portrayed Danielle Melnick in 13 episodes of the original Law & Order series, as well as in an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent in 2011, and her upcoming appearance during this Chicago Justice event will mark her return to the Dick Wolf universe after a six-year absence.

Tovah Feldshuh's upcoming appearance on Chicago Justice is poised to continue her recent hot streak of memorable roles. Between her performances on shows like The Walking Dead and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, the 63-year-old Emmy nominee has repeatedly managed to take on new and exciting parts that show off her vast talent as an actress. Although Danielle Melnick is a familiar character to Law & Order fans, we certainly expect Ms. Feldshuh to bring something different to the character when she finally returns, because of her new responsibilities as a judge, as well as the sheer amount of time that has passed since we last saw her.

This development is only the latest in a long line of announced stars and guest stars for Chicago Justice. Prior to Tovah Feldshuh's recently announced guest stint, the series tapped Carl Weathers, Phillip Winchester, and Chicago P.D.'s Jon Seda to round out its principle cast. Of course, because Feldshuh's Danielle Melnick will be firmly established within the Chicago universe once this three-way crossover occurs, there will also be plenty of room for her to pop up in future episodes and preside over more high-profile cases.
