Watch Deathstroke And Captain Boomerang's Awesome Returns In Arrow's Season Finale Trailer

The finale of Arrow Season 5 will air in a matter of days, and it promises to include some epic showdowns. Luckily for those of us who are already having trouble waiting until Wednesday to get an extended look at the action ahead, a pretty exciting trailer has been released to whet our Arrow appetites, and it features two of Oliver's most unforgettable villains fighting by his side. Check out Deathstroke, Captain Boomerang, and more in the new trailer!

After watching this trailer, I almost don't care what happens with Prometheus. I'd be content to watch Oliver, Deathstroke, and Captain Boomerang snark at each other in the wilderness for an hour or so on Wednesday night. That said, kudos to Arrow for raising the stakes so high that it's believable that Oliver would spring Deathstroke and Captain Boomerang of all people from ARGUS prison to join his team. Of course, Lian Yu isn't exactly packed with villains for Oliver to choose from, but I can imagine him going so far as to recruit Deathstroke anyway under these circumstances. Prometheus has everybody Oliver loves, and that's clearly worth temporarily burying the hatchet with the sword-happy man who killed his mom.

It should be interesting to see how Captain Boomerang gets his hands on some boomerangs. Oliver obviously didn't arm him right off the bat, and I doubt that any of Prometheus' minions happened to have a case full of boomerangs for the Captain to raid. My guess is that ARGUS kept a stash of his weapons of choice in the prison, which... isn't the smartest choice in the world, but ARGUS has been known to make some big mistakes, not the least of which was letting Oliver work as an assassin back in his terrible hair days.

All things considered, Oliver's odds are looking fairly awesome going into the episode. With Deathstroke and Captain Boomerang at his side and motivated by the possibility of escape from Lian Yu, Oliver may be able to free his friends to join the fight, and Team Arrow plus Deathstroke and Boomerang can probably take pretty much anything Prometheus and Co. have to offer. The biggest wild card may well be William, who clearly doesn't have much in the way of survival skills or stranger danger radar. William is Oliver's weak spot; if Prometheus can exploit that particular weak spot, Team Arrow may have a tough time finding the way to win without getting the kid killed.

No matter what happens, it looks like we're in for a wild ride filled with action, adventure, friendship, and supervillain snarking. What more could we want from an Arrow finale? The episode airs this Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
