The Boys Showrunner Already Offered Jeffrey Dean Morgan A Job In Season 3

Amazon's The Boys caused quite a stir when it was released last summer, with the twisted take on superheroes (and those who want to stop them) serving up enough sex, gore, disturbing scenes and outrageous moments to keep viewers on their toes and begging for more. Season 2 wrapped a while ago, and while we're still waiting to find out when we can hope to add it to our eyeballs, it sounds like The Boys' creator and executive producer, Eric Kripke, is already getting started on Season 3 by offering his former Supernatural cohort Jeffrey Dean Morgan a job.

This intriguing turn of events began when Jeffrey Dean Morgan tweeted that he loved The Boys, couldn't wait for Season 2, and would be willing to "play with that gang anytime." Morgan made sure to call out Eric Kripke in his tweet, and he responded with an offer that I'm sure most of us would like to think the actor would have a hard time refusing:

Oooohhh! Well, this opens up several possibilities, doesn't it? To start, it makes it seem like Eric Kripke believes there will be no problem getting a Season 3 renewal for The Boys. This, of course, is very cool news, considering that all we've seen of the second season so far is one minute-and-a-half long, dialogue-free, blood splatter-filled trailer. It also suggests that Kripke already knows exactly where he wants Season 3 to go (always nice to hear) and that he has at least a couple of good ideas for who Jeffrey Dean Morgan should play.

And, even having not seen Season 2 of The Boys yet, I can already imagine some highly entertaining characters that would fit Jeffrey Dean Morgan's talents to a T. While he spent some time on Supernatural as the tough but caring John Winchester, Morgan has become far more known for his time bringing murderous trash goblins to life. His turn as The Comedian in Zack Snyder's Watchmen film is capable of legitimately angering a person, not to mention his time as Negan on The Walking Dead. So, clearly Morgan would work wonders with one of the morally bankrupt / downright evil super"heores" of The Boys.

But, we've also seen Morgan successfully portray a wide variety of smart-asses, good guys and even the occasional sweetheart or two (Hey, Denny Duquette from Grey's Anatomy!), so he could also tackle the role of someone wronged by a superhero, a former buddy of Billy Butcher's who helps him out, an oily lackey who works for Vought or even an entirely different kind of super or vigilante that we haven't seen on The Boys yet. Bascially, I'm down for any way that Eric Kripke can work Jeffrey Dean Morgan into this wild, naughty, incredibly fun show.

Luckily, it sounds like Jeffrey Dean Morgan is thinking the same thing. Here was his response to Kripke's tweet:

In a heartbeat!

Simple, but excited. I love it. You guys? This might actually work out! Until we find out if Jeffrey Dean Morgan will make an appearance on The Boys Season 3, though, we still have Season 2 to enjoy, and that will be coming at some point this year.
