When it comes to Riverdale, there is plenty of potential for crossovers. That does not necessarily mean every possible avenue will be explored, though. The show shares a universe with Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, although there are some differences, and the upcoming Katy Keene series. Riverdale’s Camila Mendes has explained The CW drama’s future in crossovers.

In doing so, Camila Mendes indicated there is one you may want to cross off your Riverdale crossover dream list. No, all hope for a Riverdale/Supergirl crossover is not lost. Mendes has ruled out another show’s crossover potential instead. Asked about Riverdale crossing over with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Mendes responded, telling IMDb:

Well no I don’t think so because they’re a Netflix show. If they were on CW I think we totally would, but I think we will crossover with Katy Keene, which is coming out soon.

Interesting! There are two parts to Camila Mendes' answer. The first is that she seems doubtful Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will cross paths. Mendes points out that Riverdale is on The CW, and Sabrina is on Netflix. While an issue in the past, Lucifer’s Arrow-verse crossover offered some hope for future connections between CW and Netflix shows.

Lucifer fans were surprised and thrilled when Tom Ellis brought Lucifer Morningstar to the Arrow-verse during an episode of The CW's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover. This, despite Lucifer being a character on a Netflix show. Thus, closing the perceived distance between Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale’s respective homes. Lucifer ended up making that Arrow-verse connection work quite well, so why not Sabrina and Riverdale?

Maybe it will happen down the line. For now, Camila Mendes seems doubtful that a crossover will come together. While you try to handle the blow that is Riverdale potentially not crossing over with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, you can take heart. Mendes is hopeful regarding a Riverdale crossover with Katy Keene.

The crossover potential between Riverdale and Katy Keene is incredibly high. After all, Katy Keene is a spinoff of Riverdale, and it will air on The CW. The spinoff is set to premiere on February 6. Riverdale's Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) will star in the series. Pretty Little Liars’ Lucy Hale will play Katy Keene.

Apparently, there is a stronger likelihood that Riverdale and Katy Keene will share an official crossover of some sort. Riverdale fans will have to wait and see if Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will end up having one. Is all hope truly lost? Who would have thought Lucifer would show up in the Arrow-verse?

If there is anything that television has taught viewers lately, it is that anything is possible. Remember, Riverdale is on the same network as the Arrow-verse. The CW knows its way around making a Netflix/CW crossover happen, as demonstrated with the Lucifer situation. For now, though, Katy Keene seems to be Riverdale’s currently planned crossover buddy.

New episodes of Riverdale air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. You can currently stream Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix, among other 2020 premieres. Part 3 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is one of this winter’s premieres.
