Some of Peter Weber's former Bachelor ladies recently made big news, and not for reasons like what cost Victoria Fuller her Cosmo cover or the Chase Rice disaster. No, photos posted to social media seemingly revealed former contestants Alexa Caves and Jasmine Nguyen had finally found love... with each other. The two looked very cozy together, and Jasmine's caption that "we did find love after all" fueled the speculation. Now, however, Alexa Caves has set the record straight.
In an Instagram story on March 3, Alexa Caves revealed the truth (via TV Insider):
Hey! I wasn't going to address this because I thought it would just blow over, but I see now I'm getting a lot of questions and the story seems to be getting bigger. We don't want to mislead anyone. Jay and I are not dating. She's one of my best friends. I'm sorry to get your hopes up! That would be a great story.
Well, that settles that! Unfortunately for Bachelor fans who may have hoped that Alexa Caves and Jasmine Nguyen found their own version of a fairy tale ending, the two are just good friends. Fortunately for Bachelor fans who haven't loved seeing all the drama Peter Weber has put the women through this season, Alexa and Jasmine's friendship is seemingly flourishing without any drama! It may not be romantic love, but I'd say it still counts as a happy ending.
Of course, Bachelor contestants have fallen for each other on other versions of The Bachelor, so Alexa and Jasmine dating wouldn't have been unprecedented. It happened with two women on the Australian version of The Bachelor, and two contestants in The Bachelor: Vietnam actually left a rose ceremony together rather than continue trying to win the leading man's heart.
Considering Alexa and Jasmine were both eliminated by Peter on the same night during his season of The Bachelor, I for one am happy to see that they bounced back from that disappointment to forge a lasting friendship beyond the walls of the Bachelor house. Alexa went on in her social media statement to clarify Jasmine's Instagram caption that sparked all the speculation:
She really just thought that was a cute caption and didn't think much of it. Jay is beautiful, kind, down to earth and also very straight.
Alexa's comments pretty definitively set the record straight that she and Jasmine are close friends rather than romantic partners. Alexa, who shared with People that she is "fluid," could well put an end to all the speculation regarding the former Bachelor contestants. I just hope all the attention won't hurt Alexa and Jasmine's friendship! Neither woman will be back as the next Bachelorette. For now, Bachelor fans can just go back to speculating about what's in store in the rest of Peter's season.
Since Peter's finale reportedly changes until the very last second and definitive spoilers haven't hit the web about who Peter picks, fans should be on the edges of their seats for the two-night finale. The beginning of the end of Peter's season of The Bachelor hits ABC on Monday, March 9 at 8 p.m. ET and wraps on Tuesday, March 10 at 8 p.m. ET.
