The latest adaptation of H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds brought together a heavy-hitting cast to tackle a new version of a classic that has been thrilling fans on a weekly basis, but could also serve as an ideal entrée for people looking for a TV binge. The first season is fast-approaching its penultimate episode and grand finale, and an exclusive clip from the next episode may be proof that War of the Worlds is one to watch.

Check out the clip from the March 29 episode on Epix, which revisits a must-see moment from the series premiere:

In this sneak peek at the March 29 episode that is sure to excite existing fans, Helen (Elizabeth McGovern of Downton Abbey fame) clearly discovers what happened to her husband back on the day of the attack that changed everything. Helen finally learns what fans have known almost all along but Bill (Gabriel Byrne) has kept her in the dark on for so long.

In the penultimate episode of the season, tragedy is also going to strike and change the course of the future forever. How much that tragedy does or doesn't involve Bill and Helen remains to be seen! The season will wrap after next week's eighth episode, so the March 29 installment is not one to miss.

For newcomers and potential binge-watchers, if this clip was not a taste of the intensity of War of the Worlds, I'm not sure what could be! The Epix version of War of the Worlds is set in Europe in the present day, and the discovery of a transmission from another galaxy that confirms intelligent life elsewhere than Earth leads to mankind being all but wiped out. The world is all but deserted, with groups of humans left alive. This version of War of the Worlds may be an adaptation of H.G. Wells' story, but not a story you already know even if you've read the book or watched other adaptations.

Considering the coronavirus pandemic has many TV fans social distancing and staying at home in their free time, now is ideal to begin trying new series. With many broadcast network TV shows running out of episodes as production on the end of the 2019-2020 TV season had to stop, streaming could be the place to be for the foreseeable future. Even those who haven't subscribed to Epix can give War of the Worlds a shot. EPIX NOW is offering a free trial.

The seventh episode of War of the Worlds, revealing what comes before and after the intense exclusive clip of Bill and Helen's confrontation, releases on Sunday, March 29 at 9 p.m. ET on Epix. It will be available streaming with EPIX NOW as well, along with all the other released episodes so far. There's enough time to catch up ahead of the finale on April 5! If you're still in the market for some broadcast TV options, be sure to swing by our 2020 midseason premiere schedule.
