battlestar galactica starbuck syfy

While it only lasted for four seasons, Battlestar Galactica has remained an enduring favorite among sci-fi fans for the very realistic way it portrayed the struggles of the last remaining humans after a robot uprising almost wiped us out. Fans continue to go back to the series to enjoy its layered storytelling, edge-of-your-seat action, shocking deaths and wonderful characters, not to mention to debate the still-hotly contested finale. Now, though, star Katee Sackhoff has decided to lend her fame to a good cause and is helping people and puppies with COVID-19 relief by repping some sweet new Battlestar Galactica gear.

As we all know by now, there are millions of people who have been affected by the nation's ongoing battle with the coronavirus in several different ways. Many have lost work and the health or other benefits that come with it, which has in turn impacted heir ability to pay bills and provide other essentials for themselves and their families, not to mention those who have actually had to deal with the virus hitting them or their loved ones.

With that, lots of people are struggling to provide for their pets, and Katee Sackhoff is now helping to promote the Humane Society of the United States' COVID-19 Relief Fund, by letting us know that we can buy some cool new Batttlestar Galactica gear to help fund the cause. Take a look!

Alright, you guys. Is there any way not to dig this whole thing? Fandoms are always looking for ways to rep the shows, properties, and characters they love, and we all know that wearable items like this are one of the main ways we do it. I, for one, am quite taken with the bright blue pin Katee Sackhoff is wearing on her sweater, though we all know that one can never have too many masks nowadays.

Speaking of finding ways to show the world how much you love Battlestar Galactica, I think we can all agree that wearing anything which sports the word "frak" in any capacity pretty much seals that deal. Throughout those four seasons, there were many times this other "F" word was put to good use, and if you've not said frak a few times this year then, well, you're either a better person than most of us or you aren't paying much attention. And, if the latter is the case, good on you for getting this far into 2020 with a spring in your step.

According to The Humane Society's website, if you buy one of the Battlestar Galactica items (there are two additional products from Katee Sackhoff's collection up for sale), a portion of the proceeds will go to help not only individual pet owners in need because of our current health crisis, but animal shelters and rescue groups. The money you spend will also be used to help The Humane Society help individuals and other organizations continue to prepare for the challenges ahead as we work through the pandemic.

Honestly, all I need now is a Funko Pop that shows Starbuck shooting the coronavirus and my Battlestar Galactica collection will be complete.

While we await that Peacock reboot, know that all of Battlestar Galactica is streaming, for free, on Syfy.com, but if you need more to watch, be sure to check out our 2020 summer and fall TV guides!
