Warning! The following contains spoilers from the 16 and Pregnant Season 6 episode "Madisen." Read at your own risk.
16 and Pregnant is back for another season on MTV, and while the situations are always tense and full of ups and downs, the Season 6 opener had an added element of stress. Madisen Beith had her little girl Camille right as COVID-19 was taking hold in America, which created some additional friction in her and boyfriend Christian's lives.
Ultimately, the couple broke up for a variety of reasons, and by the episode's finish, were making attempts to co-parent their daughter Camille while remaining separate. Obviously things can always change though, and according to Madisen in an interview with PopCulture.com, she and Christian are back together and seem to be in a better place than where 16 and Pregnant left them.
I think especially now, with Camille being almost 7 months old, we've had a lot of time to talk and communicate better. I feel like now we’ve got a better understanding of where our relationship went wrong and where to fix it.
The tension between Madisen Beith and Christian built prior to the baby's birth, as Madisen's father Nick Beith mentioned a couple of times that Christian wasn't exactly what someone would call a "self-starter." Madisen didn't like that Christian spent more time hanging out with friends than he did helping out on the tiny home they were supposed to be living in together. Christian also left his job in an attempt to find something closer to where they'd be living but struggled to find another shortly after COVID-19 took hold in Arkansas.
Things took a turn for the worse for the couple one fateful morning when Madisen Beith woke up Christian and asked him to help her out with Camille. Christian was upset about being woken up, words were exchanged, and Madisen asked him to leave the home. Christian moved in with a friend, and the two stayed in contact via the phone and occasional supervised visits with Camille.
It sounds like there has been some growth on both Madisen and Christian's parts. She spoke about watching the episode and seeing the journey all over again, and how she feels about it.
It’s just exciting to look back on things, even when I was pregnant, and see how much different I am...I definitely feel like I've grown up a lot since then.
Madisen Beith's story might just be a taste of what to expect in the new season of 16 and Pregnant, in which more couples may be faced with the reality of raising a child in their teens while also dealing with a pandemic. It has to make a difficult situation just that much harder, so hopefully, these subjects featured in Season 6 were up to the challenge.
