Kaley Cuoco Debunks Rumors Of Reported Feud With Margot Robbie Over Harley Quinn

It used to be that there was a pretty clear cut line when it came to portraying superhero characters on screen. If one recognizable actor was in the role, then that was it until that person decided to quit or ran out their allotted time playing the character. But, we've had two very recognizable actresses playing the iconic DC (mostly) villain Harley Quinn for a couple of years now, and one of them, Kaley Cuoco, is now debunking rumors of a reported feud with Margot Robbie over the role.

DC fans and movie buffs alike will no doubt be very aware that Margot Robbie was the first to bring Harley Quinn to life on the big screen when she took on the part in 2016's Suicide Squad. Robbie reprised the role for this year's Birds Of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn), but in between those performances, Kaley Cuoco (best known for her long run on The Big Bang Theory) signed up to voice the popular character in the animated series Harley Quinn.

Kaley Cuoco's time as the mallet-wielding anti-hero has turned out to be beloved almost as much as Margot Robbie's time with Harley has been, so there have been rumors that the two are feuding over the character. But, while talking with David Spade for Interview, Cuoco debunked this theory, saying:

When Harley became kind of a big deal and then when Birds of Prey came out, there were all these stories that me and Margot Robbie were feuding. But I’ve never even met her. I love her. There was an article that came out that said we would not show up together at Comic-Con. We refused to be on the same stage together. Neither of us was even at Comic-Con, okay? . . . She’s so cute.

I'm glad Kaley Cuoco has put this rumor to rest, because it's just a silly idea, isn't it? For many decades now, there have been actors who played, say, Batman, on the big screen and other actors who would voice the character in video games or cartoons. But, in those cases, the major motion picture actors were the ones who had the bigger names and, probably, got the most press for playing said role. Now, though, we are several years into a system where we can have the same characters in movies and TV shows, but played by different actors.

With that, we don't tend to hear that there's any bad blood between the two, because they're filling totally different entertainment needs for the audience. While it's still sort of unusual for an actor who's voicing an animated version of a character to have almost the same level of popularity as the one who's playing the same role in movies, there's really no logical reason for Kaley Cuoco and Margot Robbie to feud over Harley Quinn. We can, and do, love both of their Harleys!

Kaley Cuoco can be seen (in the flesh) on the new HBO Max series The Flight Attendant, while her Harley Quinn has been renewed for Season 3. Margot Robbie will next appear as the unbalanced baddie in The Suicide Squad, which is currently expected to debut on August 6, 2021.
