The Voice Roasted By Fans Over Awkwardly Photoshopped Ariana Grande: 'Who Is She?’

Ariana Grande sings in the The Voice promo announcing she is the new coach of Season 21

The Voice Season 21 is just around the corner, with pop sensation Ariana Grande set to join the mix alongside Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and reigning champion Blake Shelton as the coaches in the Big Red Chairs. Fans of the singing competition are particularly excited to see how Grande will fit in with her fellow superstars, but there's no worry that anything will get more awkward than the promo picture The Voice recently shared with the world, at least if Twitter is any indication.

While spreading the world about the upcoming twenty-first season this week, The Voice tweeted out a heavily doctored promo shot of the four music superstars leading this year’s aspiring singers. But while John Legend, Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson are all smiling and rather normal looking, Ariana Grande appears to be blowing a handful of glitter, and the awkward angle, combined with her facial expression, had fans hilariously roasting the show for doing Grande dirty, with many saying the digital touch-ups rendered her unrecognizable.

Fans did not appear to find Ariana Grande’s look too flattering, with untold numbers of commenters sharing various forms of the phrasing "How you gonna do my girl Ari like that?" Some Twitter users joked that the “7 Rings” singer should take legal action over the image.

I’d sue for defamation of character, who is this?

And don't worry, Kelly Clarkson’s own depiction in the promo shot didn’t go unnoticed. Fans seemed concerned that the talk show host’s head just seemed to be floating above her turtleneck, instead of actually being connected to a neck.

Many fans wondered if and who they paid to create this photo, with many Twitter users saying they could have done better, with one helpfully suggesting a way to possibly get higher quality imagery on the cheap-cheap.

Y'all did Ariana and Kelly so bad with is wrong with y'all --- you could hire someone off Fiverr for 3$ and they'd do better then this.

To be fair, it does make one wonder what kind of approval process is involved. While John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton at least have normal-ish facial expressions that could have been cribbed from any number of promotional shots, none of those coaches looks entirely like a real human being. Maybe they were going for an animated look, because voices are so important to animation? Probably not. But whatever the intent, there was at least one person who expressed concern for the graphic artist responsible.

Someone’s about to get fired.

This isn’t the first time The Voice’s promo graphics have garnered attention for their touch-ups. Ahead of Season 18, Kelly Clarkson herself was amused about how her, ahem, assets got some enhancements at the hands of the show’s graphic artists. Though she's said she has no interest in actually going under the knife to make her boobs bigger, Clarkson seemed to enjoy the photo, exclaiming that her “chest looks enormous!” Alas she thanked the “Universe” rather than the graphics department, because no good deed goes unpunished.

The Voice is set to return to NBC at 8 p.m. ET September 20, with some pretty impressive Battle Advisors set to join our four primary coaches. New coach Ariana Grande will be joined by Broadway legend Kristin Chenoweth; Camila Cabello will assist John Legend’s team; and Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton have called upon country stars Jason Aldean and Dierks Bentley, respectively, to help them conquer that genre. Be sure to check out our 2021 Fall TV schedule so you don’t miss the upcoming premieres of any of your favorite shows.
