Kocktails With Khloe Has Been Cancelled Before Season 1 Even Finishes

This fall, when Kocktails with Khloe moved forward on FYI, it seemed like a Cinderella story for the network. The series premiered to the highest numbers in network history. Subsequent episodes ended up doing well, prompting FYI to sign on for an additional 15 episodes of Kocktails with Khloe. Unfortunately, it all came crashing down today when FYI announced the series has been cancelled and will be ending very soon. The big question is, why?

This morning, when news of the cancellation broke, FYI and Pilgrim Media Group seemed more grateful than upset about what was going down, but press statements don't always tell the full story. The companies noted they were happy to have Khloe on board for the short time the network did, but that the situation will be ending very soon. The last episode of Kocktails with Khloe will air on April 20, according to The Wrap. Weirdly, that means the episode count won’t even be fulfilled. Eight episodes of the talk show were initially ordered by FYI. Soon after the show’s debut, another 15 were added to that order. The April 20 episode of the series will only be the 14th episode to even hit the airwaves. All of this speaks to bigger problems behind-the scenes, and we now have an inkling regarding what happened.

TMZ is reporting Khloe Kardashian and the network executives just weren’t on the same page. The Kardashian sister has a lot of other business ventures she wanted to devote time to and her FYI gig was taking a lot of time. She didn’t really want to move forward and shoot another seasons, and so both sides may have decided it would be better to part ways.

Obviously, this behind-the-scenes information wasn’t confirmed by the network, but it would make sense for the series to be ending because the lead wasn’t happy with the project. What makes the cancellation a little more abrupt, though, is that Khloe Kardashian isn’t planning to finish out the first season of Kocktails with Khloe. Twenty-three episodes had already been ordered by the network, and 14 episodes is a whole lot less than that.

It's not all bad news, of course. Kocktails with Khloe still has a few more episodes coming up. In addition, there are some big guests who will be on some of those episodes. The finale, for instance, will include Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. So, if you've been watching faithfully or have been wanting to check out the Season 1 series, you can do so on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET for the next couple of weeks. And if you're looking to replace the new series in your TV-viewing lineup, you can see what the networks and cable stations have coming up, here.
