Infinity Ward Denies Modern Warfare 4 Rumor

Earlier this week a voice actor revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is in development. Today, however, Modern Warfare studio Infinity Ward strongly denied these claims.

"Interesting news today, but it's not true," tweeted Infinity Ward. "We've not talked with any voice actors, so all news is speculation."

The alleged confirmation of Modern Warfare 4 was made by actor Bill Murray, who voiced Captain Price in previous Modern Warfare games. He stated that MW4 would be a direct continuation of the storyline from the previous game. He also suggested he'd be reprising his role as Price.

As I said on Monday, Modern Warfare 4 seems like a likely project for Infinity Ward. MW3 wrapped up the storylines neatly but continuing the series is just a matter of inventing a new terrorist. As long as it's set in the present day, the name Modern Warfare fits. Considering the sales of the MW subseries, it's plausible that Activision will continue it as long as they can.

IW isn't saying that MW4 isn't going to happen. They're just saying that they didn't tell any voice actors about it. We're not really in a position to judge whether that's true or not. However, what we do know is that an official announcement of the next COD won't occur for awhile. Typically Activision waits until April/May to announce new entries in the series.
