Nintendo Is Using Super Smash Bros. Ultimate To Celebrate The Holidays In A Fun Way
If you don't already have a Switch on your holiday wish list, Nintendo aims to remedy that with about a dozen demo stations bringing the "Nintendo Switch Holiday Experience" across the country. A whole bunch of games and activities will be on display, with an early look at Super Smash Bros. Ultimate likely to be the biggest draw.
Nintendo's marketing plan this holiday season is pretty smart, as highlighted by Comic Book. They've launched a bunch of big demo stations at key locations across the country that will undoubtedly cause a whole bunch of youngsters to beg Mom and Dad to drop by the mall at some point. At that same location will be plenty of helpful representatives ready to answer any questions, or make recommendations for parents looking to make little Johnny or Jane's holiday super bright.
As a side note, we've also got a rundown of some things to keep in mind if you're thinking of grabbing one of Nintendo's popular consoles.
The Nintendo Switch Holiday Experience is live now at select locations (see list below) and will be open through Dec. 16. It's a free event that runs from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The highlight for many will be Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which doesn't even launch until Dec. 7 but will playable at the event. Nintendo recently held a final Smash Bros Direct, introducing the final additions to the game's starting roster, and a rather beefy bit of content for single player fun. More characters will be added through DLC but, for now, nearly 80 is a more than adequate start.
Also at the event will be both of the Pokemon Let's Go games, where visitors will also be able to try out that spiffy Pokeball controller. Those games launch on Friday, so make sure you drop by one of the Holiday Experience booths soon if you need some extra convincing.
A whole bunch of other games were also announced as part of the experience -- including Nintendo Labo stations, Super Mario Party, and more family-friendly fare like Just Dance 2019 and Overcooked 2. And Nintendo would have to be crazy if they didn't capitalize on the Fortnite craze, so there will be a "photo experience" tied to the game available at the Nintendo holiday events.
