Hero Blend #19: Introducing Marvel Studios' Daredevil

Marvel Studios has a long-established history of playing their cards close to the chest, and certainly one of their most secretive projects has been the upcoming series Daredevil, which will be the first in a collection of shows that will eventually be coming to Netflix. Slowly but surely, however, details have emerged about the project… and this week we were gifted with some huge developments.

Shortly after it was announced late last week that Edgar Wright would no longer be directing Ant-Man, Marvel Studios was struck with a second blow as it was revealed that Drew Goddard – who has been attached as the Daredevil showrunner since last November – was being forced to leave the project to focus on his upcoming Amazing Spider-Man feature The Sinister Six. While losing a talented guy like Goddard certainly hurt, the news was quickly followed by two much more positive reveals: Buffy and Angel writer Steven DeKnight is taking Goddard’s place as showrunner, and Boardwalk Empire’s Charlie Cox has been hired to star as the titular superhero.

There’s obviously a lot to talk about and joining me once again on Hero Blend this week is Cinema Blend’s own Sean O’Connell. Enjoy the show!
