Take A First Look At Amber Heard In Machete Kills

There are a number of beautiful women featured in Robert Rodriguez's upcoming sequel Machete Kills. Not only are Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba set to reprise their roles as Luz, and Sartana, respectively, they will be joined by the likes of Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara, Vanessa Hudgens and Alexa Vega. Sadly only one of them could be featured in the first official still from the new movie, but it looks like Amber Heard won the lottery as her character Miss San Antonio.

The new image comes in conjunction with an announcement from Open Road Films that they will be handling domestic distribution for the film and will be bringing it to theaters some time in 2013. The first film in the series, Machete, was released by 20th Century Fox and The Weinstein Company handled Grindhouse, the movie from which the titular character sprang. Open Road made the announcement about the acquisition via their official Twitter account, which is also where the still originated. Scope out the official still from Machete Kills below.

Written by Kyle Ward, the sequel sees the United States government hiring the help of Machete (Danny Trejo) to travel to Mexico and stop a psychotic arms dealer (Mel Gibson) from launching a missile into space. The film's supporting cast also includes Alexa Vega, Cuba Gooding Jr., Edward James Olmos, William Sadler and Demian Bichir with cameos from people like Charlie Sheen (who will play the U.S. President) and Lady Gaga (as a woman named La Chameleon). Machete Kills doesn't have an official release date yet in the United States.
