Why Jamie Dornan Never Went Full-Frontal Nude For Fifty Shades

The third and (presumably) final movie in the Fifty Shades franchise is hitting theaters this weekend. Throughout the promotion of the three movies, star Jamie Dornan has played coy about whether or not we would get any full-frontal male nudity, but alas it looks as if fans won't get to see the "d" released in Fifty Shades Freed. Dornan confirmed the news in a recent interview, also explaining why the decision was made to show certain nude parts and to reign in others. He said:

I don't know if I said I wouldn't. You see my arse quite a lot. That doesn't really bother me. You see a lot of Dakota's tits. I would show my tits if I had them. I just thought, 'We don't need to be flashing the rest if it's not essential to the story.' We're not making porn as much as people think we are.

According to Jamie Dornan, it wasn't that nudity in Fifty Shades Freed and the other two movies bothered him, he just seemed to feel his dick would have detracted from the overall story. I dunno about detracted, but it definitely would have been a distraction to the overall plot, as any time there is full-frontal nudity in a movie or TV show, it's still enough of a novelty that it's talked about after. For that reason, perhaps it was better to stick to boobs and butts, well that, and the storyline, of course. However, that didn't mean Dornan's penis had a cushy time on the set of the movies, as Dornan has already talked about the "wee-bag" he had to wear.

Speaking to Elle, Jamie Dornan also mentioned that the lack of his penis on the big screen did not come down to money. Although there were rumors the cast of the movies made more for showing more, Dornan shot those down, saying,

It was $30 million--to show one testicle. [Laughs] No, that whole thing with offering more money to go nude? That didn't happen.

What did reportedly happen is that Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson were paid a small fee for Fifty Shades of Grey. Then, when the movie made a lot of money, they both re-upped their contracts for more money, similar to what Gal Gadot has done after Wonder Woman crushed at the box office and Wonder Woman 2 was announced. Although the contracts were reworked up, a discussion about full-frontal nudity seemingly didn't come into it, and we won't be getting a moment like that when Fifty Shades Freed hits theaters.

We'll find out soon enough what the sex will entail, however. Fans of the franchise will be able to check out Fifty Shades Freed this coming Friday, and if you are interested in more about the sex scenes, we have you covered.
