Aquaman 2's Jason Momoa Has The Best Take When Asked About Showering, Since That’s A Thing Celebs Have To Answer Now

As if celebrities didn’t get enough of our attention already, now their bathing habits are part of the news cycle… or in some cases, lack thereof. Actors like Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis and Jake Gyllenhaal have been open recently about how they don’t shower every day, while Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has made it clear that he washes multiple times per day. Now Aquaman 2 star Jason Momoa has sounded off with an excellent take on this public shower conversation.

Jason Momoa was plugging his new movie, Sweet Girl, with co-star Isabela Merced, and Merced mentioned how she didn’t take one of Momoa’s scrunchies on set because he’d joked about how he didn’t shower. When the Access interviewer noted the ‘not bathing’ trend occurring right now, Momoa set the record straight with the following:

I’m not starting any trends. I shower, trust me. I’m Aquaman. I’m in the fucking water. Don’t worry about it. I’m Hawaiian. We got saltwater on me. We good.

So there you have it, folks: Jason Momoa wants the masses to know that hygiene is important to him. From being imbued in him as part of his Hawaiian heritage to all that time he spends in the water playing Aquaman, he’s washing off on a consistent basis. It would be pretty weird if the man playing DC Comics’ King of the Seven Seas had an aversion to bathing, not to mention that it’s even more necessary nowadays considering how many of his roles are action-heavy If he wasn’t showering, the emanating stink would surely ward off everyone around him.

So Jason Momoa, who recently turned 42, won’t be joining the infrequent bathing trend, but there’s other ways he can stay in the public spotlight. For one thing, Sweet Girl will hit Netflix in just a few weeks; that movie sees Momoa playing a man vowing to exact justice on the people responsible for his wife’s death, while simultaneously protecting his daughter, played by Isabela Merced. Momoa is also starring as Duncan Idaho in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, which will play both in theaters and on HBO Max in late October.

As for Jason Momoa’s tenure as Aquaman, we saw reunited with his incarnation of the underwater-breathing, trident-wielding superhero earlier this year in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, though the footage of him there was shot years ago during Justice League’s original principal photography. Currently Momoa is hard at work shooting Aquaman 2, a.k.a. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is also bringing back familiar faces like Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren and Temuera Morrison. The sequel kicked off principal photography at the end of June, and Momoa started filming his scenes in the middle of July.

We’ll see what’s in store for the DC Extended Universe’s version of Arthur Curry when Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom dives into theaters on December 16. Keep checking back with CinemaBlend for news concerning the sequel and other upcoming DC Comics movies.
