Chris Pine Meets Kevin Costner In New Jack Ryan Images

Due to a soon-to-be-released Super Bowl trailer and a release date that's now less than five months away, there seems to be an endless number of stories cropping up about Star Trek Into Darkness, but that isn't the only franchise film arriving for Chris Pine in 2013. Come Christmas we will have the first Jack Ryan movie since 2002's The Sum of All Fears with Pine in the title role. Chances are we're still pretty far away from any kind of real marketing push, with the first trailer probably not due out until summer, but until then we'll take what we can get - for example, these brand new stills.

In a write-up about the new action film USA Today has posted two images from the winter blockbuster, and not only do they provide new looks at Pine as the Tom Clancy hero, they also include Kevin Costner as mentor William Harper (a character created just for the movie). You can see the pics below and head over to the newspaper's site to see them full size.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, Jack Ryan takes us back to the hero's younger days as a covert CIA analyst working in Russia who is thrust into action when he discovers that his boss (Branagh) is funding a terrorist plot that will destroy the United States economy. Kiera Knightley co-stars in the movie as Cathy Ryan (the character previously played by Gates McFadden, Anne Archer and Bridget Moynahan) and the supporting cast includes Colm Feore, Nonso Anozie and David Paymer.
