It’s only been a few days since Kerri Walsh Jennings and her husband Casey welcomed in their third child, and already, the affable couple is letting the world know the story behind their daughter’s name. Apparently, young Scout Margery is a duel dedication to both the volleyball player’s favorite literary character and her mother.
Here’s what Walsh Jennings told the anchors of Today, as per People…
“Scout is my favorite character in all of literature — Scout Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird. She’s brilliant. She loves her family and I just love her little spirit. And Margery is after my mother, who is the most beautiful human being I ever met.”
By all accounts, Walsh is positively stoked about adding another child to the fold, but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to give up her dream of winning a fourth gold medal. The athlete has never wavered in her quest to win again, this time without longtime partner Misty May Treanor.
The Jennings Family’s choice to name the girl Scout has drawn some reactions from both fans and critics, but for Pop Blend’s money, the handle is good weird and not bad weird. Besides, considering Greg already named their son Sundance after his favorite character, it only seems fitting Kerri got her chance at bat. Thank God she’s not a huge fan of Where The Heart Is.
We’ll keep you updated on both Kerri’s domestic life and her quest to win gold medal number four.
