Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen Say Their Relationship Is Like A Marriage

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen So Little Time

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are practically inseparable. The former child superstars were the scene-stealers on Full House and the co-stars of several sister comedies, including It Takes Two, Billboard Dad, Switching Goals, Passport to Paris, Double, Double, Toil and Trouble, How the West Was Fun and New York Minute, to only name a few. But in recent years, they haven't been in the spot light. If anything, their younger sister, Elizabeth Olsen, has garnered more attention in the spotlight than the famous twins. But that doesn't make Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen any less close to each other. In fact, in a recent joint interview, the siblings opened up about their relationship together, and they admitted that their relationship is similar to a marriage.

[It is] a marriage and a partnership. We have had ups and downs.

The conversation came up during a recent interview with WSJ Magazine, where the publication caught up with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and their fashion line, The Row, which is now including a menswear collection in their attempt to expand their brand. Although the former actresss twins are private about their personal lives, they decided to give a rare interview to discuss themselves and their company. And that's how the discussion turned towards their relationship to one another, after 32 years of being conjoined in the public eye. More specifically, Mary-Kate and Ashley say that it has been 32 years of "learning how to communicate." While every relationship isn't without its downs, the famous twins have worked through it right next to one another because they practically do everything together -- including coming out of the womb. And the Olsens continue to hold a strong bond with one another.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen first grew to prominence when they shared the role of Michelle Tanner on the famous sitcom Full House. That's when they not only became household names, but international superstars, starring in a variety of different movies together until New York Minute, the 2004 comedy that was the first in theaters since 1995's It Takes Two. Neither film found much box office success, and that's when the actresses worked on their own brands, with Ashley stayed focused on her fashion career while Mary-Kate Olsen started starring in movies away from her sister, including supporting roles in films like Factory Girl, The Wackness and Beastly and shows such as Weeds and Samantha Who?

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were given a chance to return to acting via Netflix's Fuller House, but the twins turned down the opportunity -- despite the best efforts of the actors involved (and a very futile attempt to get Elizabeth Olsen, reportedly) -- opting to stay focused on their business careers instead. It was something the streaming service made a joke about in the pilot episode. While acting ultimately isn't something that interests the Olsen twins anymore, it seems, the sisters are focused on their entrepreneur work and they have each other to guide them through thick-and-thin. Meanwhile, we'll continue to keep you posted on the latest developments with the Olsen twins right here at CinemaBlend.
