SNL Just Added Two More Brand New Cast Members
After some casting news for Season 42 of Saturday Night Live came down last week, the show has continued to add to the season with two new featured players being announced today. The long-running sketch comedy series will be adding Melissa Villasenor and Alex Moffat to the cast for the upcoming season.
NBC announced today that the late night staple would add the two new featured players beginning October 1, when Season 42 of SNL is scheduled to begin this fall. Comedian Melissa Villasenor specializes in impressions of a wide variety of celebrities and fictional characters. She's known for her impressions of Kathy Griffin, Pikachu, Owen Wilson and Natalie Portman, among others. She appeared on Season 6 of America's Got Talent in 2011, making it through the first round of the semi finals. Her on screen career began with an appearance in the comedy spoof The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It, and has mostly been in short films and television shows. She's also lent her voice to Family Guy, Pickle and Peanut, Trip Tank and Adventure Time. Her most recent film, Laid in America, is due out next year.
Chicago native Alex Moffat is an improv performer who will also be joining the SNL cast as a featured player in Season 42. The comedian has worked with Second City and performed in other theater shows in Chicago. He's behind the web series El Show with Alex Moffat, and the solo project Good Little Winnetka Boy. He appeared in the film Uncle John in 2015 and has also worked in the video short Racial Risk, TV mini series Couch Surferz, and the TV series The State of Us.
Villasenor and Moffat will join previously announced new featured player Mikey Day on the show this fall. Day is the next in a long line of writers who have gone on to perform on the hit show. All three will be performing with a long line of returning cast members for Season 42, including Vanessa Bayer, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, Colin Jost, Aidy Bryant, Michael Che, Bobby Moynihan, Sasheer Zamata and Kenan Thompson. The three additions to the cast come just a few short weeks after we found out that players Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah would not be returning to the series.
We can all see how Melissa Villasenor and Alext Moffat will perform on SNL when Season 42 premieres on October 1 on NBC.
