A star from both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and spinoff Angel is heading to Legacies Season 2! That’s right, you can add another piece to the puzzle that is Legacies’ sophomore season. The series has recruited an actor incredibly familiar with the vampire genre: Alexis Denisof.

Having starred as Wesley Wyndam-Pryce on both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Alexis Denisof knows his way around the supernatural. He also starred on Grimm and more recently, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Denisof will come into Legacies as an educator. The actor will star in the recurring role of Professor Vardemus, per a TVLine exclusive.

Who is he and when you can expect to see him? Alexis Denisof’s Professor Vardemus is an “urbane British sorcerer,” who will make his debut early on in Legacies Season 2. In Episode 2, to be precise! Vardemus is described as being a “bit of a dandy.” In other words, a man with great style. Is that what endears him to Salvatore School’s students? Think again.

Prof. V is said to win over Salvatore School’s students with another attribute: his ideology. The new character owes his popularity to his firm belief that the world of the supernatural is the superior one. Does this connect to the purported Legacies spoilers that Matt Davis (Alaric) spilled for Season 2? Time for a closer look.

Matt Davis indicated that his character, Alaric, would not be coming back as headmaster of Salvatore School any time soon. He also hinted at a new headmaster coming on board, who may not lead the students to “the best place.” Could Professor Vardemus become the new headmaster?

His description kind of syncs up with the person Matt Davis described eventually filling Alaric’s shoes. Legacies fans will have to stay tuned. The Vampire Diaries spinoff is ramping up for Season 2, and this professor is now part of what is known so far.

When production got underway on the new season of Legacies, things got off to a steamy start. Jenny Boyd, who plays Lizzie, teased the scripts for Season 2 were blowing her mind.

In related news, one of Legacies' main characters is getting a new vampire love interest. If only Alaric could find some love! So, when can fans expect Caroline and other fan-favorites to appear? The executive producers have weighed in with when they think would be the best time.

In the meantime, Caroline will be involved in the Season 2 premiere. Just not in a way that many fans would probably like. Could Professor Vardemus be what brings her back? What he could get up to would undoubtedly catch her attention.

Legacies Season 2 premieres Thursday, October 10 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. Enjoy this summer’s television premieres in the meantime. If you want to catch up on last season, you can currently binge the first season of Legacies in its entirety on Netflix, alongside a vast array of premieres.
