For all the fans who have been re-experiencing the '90s thanks to Fox's meta-revival BH90210, just know that Tori Spelling's husband Dean McDermott is the person to beat when it comes to maximizing nostalgia. McDermott has gone public with the amusingly delightful confession that his bedroom antics with Spelling sometimes involve role-playing, and sometimes that role-playing involves reprising her 90210 role of Donna Martin. Hit the theme music.
Dean McDermott, who first got married to Tori Spelling back in 2006, wasn't technically the person who directly the pop culture sex confession, but McDermott also didn't clam up after he started talking either. Here's how he put it:
Yeah, she’s dressed up like Donna Martin. And it’s fucking awesome. Here’s the thing: The thing I love about the show is the flashbacks. In Episode 2, the flashback of Tori running down the hall and she talks to Kelly, I was like, 'Schwing!'
That hilariousness was shared during the latest installment of the podcast Daddy Issues, which Dean McDermott co-hosts alongside Adam Hunter and Nicky Paris. The ep's conversations hit upon all kinds of topics, but it was when the couple's sex life came up that McDermott gave everyone a metaphorical peek behind the curtain. Or under the covers, I suppose.
Let it get past no one that for his exclamation of choice to reflect on these 1990s-focused fantasies about having sex with 90210's Donna Martin, Dean McDermott used the word "Schwing," which entered the zeitgeist vernacular thanks to Wayne's World, which came out two years after Beverly Hills 90210 premiered. Both McDermott and Mike Meyers are Canadian, too. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but it feels relevant to the "schwing" of things.
Adam Hunter jokingly asked Dean McDermott if the Donna role-playing was a big desire simply because neither he nor Tori Spelling had to worry about being parents back then. Here's McDermott's initially jokey response:
That’s what really turned me on: the thought of no children. No, she looked hot. You know the story, I had a crush on Tori on the show, and so to see the flashbacks, I put it in the spank bank.
And here you thought you were going to make it to the end of 2019 without learning anything about Dean McDermott's spank bank. You. Were. Wrong.
It was also revealed during that episode that Dean McDermott has a particular tattoo above his genitalia that marks the territory for that of his loving wife. The tattoo simply says "Tori's," and according to the actor and former Chopped Canada host, it's specifically "below my C-section line." At least he didn't reveal that she brought her Masked Singer costume into the bedroom. Maybe that's for the next podcast episode.
BH90210 is gearing up for the fourth episode of its debut season on Fox, and though it started off as a promising summer series, the show's tongue-in-cheek nature has thrown some viewers for a loop. The fictional series features all of the original cast members playing themselves, save for the late Luke Perry, as they reunite and attempt to get an in-show 90210 reunion project going, with clashing results. (And I'm not just talking about the '90s fashion, mkay?)
Now we just need to get clarification from the spouses of Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffany Thiessen whether they have tried to introduce Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski role-playing into their respective bedrooms. I'm sure there was at least one Zack outfit that wasn't fatally shameful.
