Former 90 Day Fiance Star Larissa Dos Santos Alleges TLC Faked Some Of Surgery Storyline

Larissa Dos Santos

Larissa Dos Santos Lima has been out of the 90 Day Fiancé family for a month and, now that she's out, the secrets are starting to pour out about her time on the show. Larissa recently did a Q&A on her Instagram stories and, while she was cagey about the status of her relationship with boyfriend Eric Nichols, she allegedly revealed an element about her final season of the show that was faked by TLC.

For those who don't remember, Larissa's 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? storyline involved her and Eric reconciling and her asking that he fund a $70,000 plastic surgery to revamp her body and nose. Eric agreed -- provided they come to an "arrangement," which potentially covered everything from Larissa paying "interest" to "special privileges." Now, amidst rumblings the two have called it quits, a fan asked if Larissa had paid back Eric for her surgery, and they got this response from her.

The surgery thing was created by the show to get people talking about [it].

That statement is a bit confusing, possibly because English is Larissa's second language. Obviously, Larissa did not fake her plastic surgery so, reading between the lines and based on the question, it sounds like Larissa is alleging that the whole story of Eric funding Larissa's surgery was manufactured by TLC to create drama and interest with fans.

TLC has not admitted that, so it's really just Larissa Dos Santos Lima's word against their own. With that said, it did seem odd that Eric Nichols would bankroll such an expensive surgery for Larissa when they had only just gotten back together and gotten into a big fight before that. It's also worth mentioning the two had a somewhat volatile relationship ahead of this, so I don't think there were many 90 Day Fiancé viewers surprised when it was rumored that they've broken up again.

Obviously, the allegation had fans interested, enough that there were follow-up questions that needed to be answered. For example, a fan then had to ask that if Eric didn't pay for the surgeries, who did? Larissa Dos Santos Lima had an answer for that, and it's is kind of surprising:

I paid myself. I always have income. My Cameos was $100.

Larissa Dos Santos Lima may have been making some good money on Cameo, but was it enough to cover a $70,000 surgery? She probably had some stipend money from TLC for doing 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? but, based on what most participants say, it doesn't pay as much as fans would imagine. Larissa does not have a consistent job outside of that, which does raise some questions for me about where the money came from. Even so, it's interesting to hear this major storyline could have been faked by the series and certainly makes me a bit suspicious of other storylines that could happen in the future.

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way airs on TLC Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Continue to stick with CinemaBlend for more happening in the franchise, and for the latest news happening in television and movies.
