wendy williams show december 2020

Wow. You guys? This year has brought us a lot of things, and, to put it mildly, many of those things were of the 1000% unexpected variety for most of us. Even though a lot of that stuff has been bad (very, very bad), we did get some good things as well. We got a WAP / Jeopardy mashup. We got John Mulaney returning to host SNL twice...Some of the memorable bits will, however, not quite fit into either category, but remain firmly in the "unexpected thing that happened" section, and the feud between talk show host Wendy Williams and musical legend Dionne Warwick is absolutely something I didn't expect to see.

Recently, Wendy Williams took some time during her opening "Hot Topics" segment to talk about Dionne Warwick and her spate of hot takes and funny commentary on Twitter in the last few days. Many of these tweets have been directly aimed at celebrities, and even though Williams was complementary toward the Twitter activity itself, she also said that she thinks Warwick calls her a "bitch" after any appearances on her show. Williams also brought up the singer's 2002 marijuana charges and critiqued a video she posted to social media.

As you might imagine from the title of this article, Ms. Warwick was less than pleased with the content of Wendy Williams' segment, and, as she's been doing a lot lately, took her complaints right to her Twitter feed, saying:

A friend alerted me that Wendy Williams was spending a lot of not nice time speaking on me. I tuned in to her show to catch the last few minutes of her speaking about me and as in the past she seems not to be able to speak without maliciously made comments. My hope is my name will refrain from being spoken or thought of by her as this conversation was held a few years ago letting her know there was nor would be any need for her to say the name Dionne Warwick for any reason. I don’t believe one has to be mean to get noticed...There’s an old saying you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar! Try it Wendy you might like it.

Well, I think we've all learned an important lesson today, haven't we? Do. Not. Mess. With Dionne Warwick! She posted three short, separate tweets to get her point across, and ended that last sentence with both the clown face emoji and the slightly smiling face emoji. I'm not completely sure what the message is there, but I have no doubt, considering how Warwick addressed Williams, that there is one.

As far as we know, right now Wendy Williams hasn't responded to Dionne Warwick's comments, so this feud is kind of one-sided, but it does seem like a feud nonetheless. And, it appears, from what Warwick said, that this feud has been going on for at least a couple of years without most of our knowledge.

Did you notice, as I did, how she said that "this conversation was held a few years ago letting her know there was nor would be any need for her to say the name Dionne Warwick for any reason"? Sounds to me like Warwick hasn't had the time for Williams for a while now, though she doesn't specify what led to this alleged discussion.

If you want to take a look at everything that Wendy Williams had to say about Warwick, her comments start at the 9:37 mark in the video below:

Wendy Williams is known for voicing her unvarnished comments regarding pretty much everything, so this isn't the first time (or the last, probably) that she will run afoul of another celebrity, much less a living legend. I, honestly, can't wait to see if Williams decides to let this go, or if she tried to up the ante on this feud.

Either way, be sure to stay tuned to CinemaBlend for the latest in TV, movies and pop culture!
