Christopher Meloni Shares First Look As Law And Order: Organized Crime Is Already Back To Work On Season 2

Christopher Meloni as Elliot Stabler in Law & Order: Organized Crime.

When Law & Order: Organized Crime premiered earlier this year, it quickly became the a hit for the franchise, so it came as no surprise when NBC renewed the series for a second season. Fans loved getting to see Mariska Hargitay’s Olivia Benson and Christopher Meloni’s Elliot Stabler reunite after many years, which was crucial to Organized Crime’s success. So with the series now entering Season 2, Meloni is giving fans a first look as production kicks off.

The actor recently took to Instagram to share a video from the set of Season 2 of Law & Order: Organized Crime. Wearing masks and following COVID protocols, the cast and crew of the NBC series appear to be on their game. As seen in the video, Meloni and his surrounding colleagues are also happy and clapping as work commences, and fans in the comments can’t get enough. Check it out down below:

Law & Order: Organized Crime was renewed for a second season about midway through the first season's run. It’s exciting to see the cast and crew finally filming the upcoming season, especially given Hollywood's current situation. Hopefully, the show will have better luck this season than last, as production had to shut down twice ahead of the series premiere, due to the pandemic. It’s always hard to predict but given that more cast and crew are likely vaccinated than they were during the first season's production, Organized Crime could have a better chance at avoiding a shutdown compared to Season 1. At least, that's just us thinking optimistically.

While Law & Order: Organized Crime was still airing its first season, Ilene Chaiken discussed how the Season 1 finale would set up the second season, assuming the show was going to get renewed. Though the show was ultimately fortunate to land a new season, another planned show wasn't so fortunate. Organized Crime and its predecessor Law & Order: SVU were going to be part of a new Law & Order Thursday night lineup this fall with incoming series For the Defense. However, For the Defense has since been canned by NBC, meaning fans will have to stick with Benson, Stabler and their respective teams for now.

The Law & Order spinoff has, however, been met with some criticism due to the pairing of Stabler and Tamara Taylor’s Angela Whitley, due largely to the many Bensler fans out there. Yet the series has mostly received positive reviews and, honestly, even SVU can take some lessons from its spinoff. Whether or not another SVU star could make the switch to Organized Crime is still up in the air, but it will be interesting to see what Season 2 brings. And with For the Defense now on the shelf, we'll also be waiting to see if the show is joined by yet another Law & Order spinoff, as any other series could also have potential ramifications for Organized Crime as well.

Season 2 of Law & Order: Organized Crime premieres Thursday, September 23 on NBC. In the meantime, check out CinemaBlend’s fall 2021 TV schedule to see which other shows you can look forward to later this year!
