CBS' CSI: Vegas Revival Gives Fans A New Look At Gil Grissom's Return To TV

It’s been five long years since the last CSI series graced our televisions, and the Crime Lab is returning to the city where it all began. CBS recently released a new teaser for its upcoming CSI: Vegas revival and it features the return of William Petersen’s Gil Grissom and Jorja Fox’s Sara Sidle, and the wait has been worth it.

The new teaser, released on the CBS Studios Twitter, shows a new team of investigators working effortlessly to solve crimes, making it clear that “Truth doesn’t lie.” Fans also get a quick look at Gil Grissom, who hasn't appeared on screen since 2015. And fans will be happy to know that not much seems to have changed between then and now:

Gil retired and left the CSI unit in Season 10, reuniting with fiancé Sara. While the two had their ups and downs, as well as a divorce, their final appearance in the series involved them sailing off together so Gil can continue his work as a wildlife advocate. It will be interesting to see just how they will return, as the synopsis below offers just a bit more information on what brings the couple back to Vegas:

CSI: VEGAS, the sequel to the Network’s global hit CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, opens a brand-new chapter in Las Vegas—the city where it all began. Facing an existential threat that could bring down the entire Crime Lab and release thousands of convicted killers back onto the neon-lit streets of Vegas, a brilliant new team of investigators led by Maxine Roby (Paula Newsome) must enlist the help of old friends, Gil Grissom (William Petersen), Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) and David Hodges (Wallace Langham). This combined force will deploy the latest forensic techniques to do what they do best—follow the evidence—in order to preserve and serve justice in Sin City.

While it’s still unclear whether the two of them are staying with the CSI Vegas unit permanently or sporadically, as they are still dedicating their lives to the “betterment of humanity,” it’s clear that in whatever capacity they’re appearing in, they will be of help to the new team. But we’ll probably get more insight into just what Gil and Sara have been doing since sailing off together, and exactly how they’ve been improving humanity. And they’re reportedly not the only OGs returning, as Wallace Langham and Paul Guilfoyle are also set to return to reprise their CSI roles. So it’s possible more CSI vets will be appearing throughout the series, since it is taking place in Las Vegas.

Catch the return of Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle in CSI: Vegas on Wednesday, October 6 on CBS, and check out our 2021 fall TV premiere schedule for more of what's on the way.
