Earlier today, it was announced that The CW had given a series order to the Arrow/The Flash spinoff, now officially titled Legends of Tomorrow. The series will see heroes and villains from the DC TV universe being brought together to confront an “unstoppable threat” that is putting both Earth and time itself in jeopardy. Although an air date for Legends of Tomorrow hasn’t been announced yet - it’s rumored to air in January 2016 - fans won’t have to wait long to get a taste of what it’s offering. Several of the spinoff’s characters will be appearing on The Flash in less than two weeks.
Actress Ciara Renée, who will be playing Kendra Saunders, a.k.a. Hawkgirl, in Legends of Tomorrow, tweeted earlier today that she will be showing up in The Flash Season 1 finale, and she will be joined by several of her spinoff co-stars.
Despite previous reports indicating that Hawkgirl would not appear in the season finale, it looks like this is what Renée was up to when she visited The Flash’s Vancouver set last month. The actress didn’t specify whether her co-stars are characters who have already been introduced on either Arrow or The Flash, or if they will be newcomers like Rip Hunter or Jay Jackson. However, since she specifically wrote “castmates,” we can expect to see at least three of the Legends of Tomorrow players.
Although Renée didn’t mention him in the tweet, Victor Garber is reprising his role as Dr. Martin Stein in The Flash Season 1 finale, titled “Fast Enough.” Since Garber will be one of the lead actors in Legends of Tomorrow, it can be assumed he is one of the people Renée was alluding to. As for some of her other costars, Captain Cold will be appearing in next week’s The Flash episode “Rogue Air,” while Atom is currently helping stop Ra’s al Ghul on Arrow.
“Fast Enough” will see Barry Allen being presented with a life-changing choice by Harrison Wells, a.k.a. Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. the Reverse-Flash (this guy has accumulated a lot of names). Stein and Robbie Amell’s Ronnie Raymond will also be assisting the Scarlet Speedster in this final fight, presumably as Firestorm. It’s unclear whether Hawkgirl and the other castmate(s) that will be seen will have their special abilities already, or if this will be before they reach superhero status. Here’s a fun fact: although this will be the first time we see this incarnation of Hawkgirl, her name showed up last week in the episode “The Trap” on the future newspaper that Wells has repeatedly looked at.
You can catch the final Season 1 episodes of The Flash Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
