The second season of Boston Blue is filming, and there is already so much to look forward to. When the Blue Bloods offshoot returns on the 2026 TV schedule in October, there will be plenty more action and family dinners. Plus, there will be more Reagan family reunions. That's right, Will Estes is officially reuniting with Donnie Wahlberg in Season 2. Now, I have one major hope for his return.
Will Estes Is Heading To Boston
Season 1 of Boston Blue brought back several Blue Bloods favorites, and that isn’t stopping with Season 2. Wahlberg confirmed that Estes will indeed be returning as Sergeant Jamie Reagan in an upcoming episode by sharing a photo to his Instagram Story of him with his on-screen brother and co-stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Marcus Scribner, and Mika Amonsen. I have to say, it is so good to see the Reagan brothers together again:
Details surrounding what will bring Jamie to Boston have not been announced, but just the fact that we’ll be seeing him again is more than enough to keep fans excited. I am curious as to why he’s in Boston and if he’ll be going for work or simply to visit his brother and nephew. From the looks of the photo though, it’ll be a family affair for the Silvers and Reagans.
I Have One Major Hope For Will Estes' Return
When it comes to Estes' return, I can't help but hope a few others make the trip to Boston with him. This would be the perfect opportunity for Boston Blue to bring back not only Jamie but Eddie (Vanessa Ray) as well, especially after formally introducing their baby son, Joey Francis Reagan, in the first season. Jamko is arguably one of the best couples to come out of Blue Bloods, and it was both happy and sad when they announced their pregnancy at the end of the series finale because we wouldn’t be able to see them as parents.
Having Jamie and Eddie in Boston with their son would allow viewers to see the couple again while also introducing us to their baby. Honestly, I don’t even care if Eddie and baby Joey’s appearance is brief. I would love nothing more than to see that sweet little family, no matter how long it is. At the very least, even if Jamie is flying solo to Boston, I feel like there’s a good chance we’ll get some kind of update about his loved ones.
If anything, I’m just excited to see another Reagan family member appearing on Boston Blue, even if it’s not Tom Selleck’s Frank Reagan. It’s unknown when exactly Will Estes will be guest starring, but with Boston Blue premiering Season 2 on Friday, October 9 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS, it shouldn’t be long until more information is shared.
