Today Show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie has been contending with the disappearance of her mother since the early part of this year. Nancy Guthrie (84) was last seen on February 1 near her home in the Catalina Foothills community near Tucson, Arizona. Since then, Guthrie has made appeals alongside her family members in social media videos, in which she’s directly addressed her mother’s kidnappers. This week, the journalist shared another message and received support from Hoda Kotb, Carson Daly and more.
Guthrie shared her latest post on Instagram on Monday and was alone in this particular clip. Her video begins with her acknowledging the amount of time that’s passed since her mother was taken. From there, Guthrie opens up about the impact this period of time has had on her and her relatives, before sharing more:
I’m coming on today with a very specific message. It has been months since our mom was taken from us. Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end. Nothing about our situation has changed. We have done our part and we will never stop looking for her. We will always ache for her and feel that hole in our hearts. The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place, and I know that you have tried to do things the right way. So I’m asking you, begging you to do the right thing now. Make the right choice. Help us find her, tell us where to look for her. I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end for all of us.
Guthrie goes on to say, “No matter where we’ve been or what we’ve done, I believe there is always a way home.” The video can be seen in its entirety below:
Since this all began, Guthrie has received support from Kotb – who’s also a longtime friend of hers – as well as many others at Today. After she posted her latest message, Guthrie was greeted with a wave of well wishes from journalists and celebrities alike. Take a look at some of the responses:

After Nancy Guthrie was deemed missing, local authorities determined that she had been taken by force and launched a criminal investigation. Said investigation has yet to yield any specific suspects at this time, and no one has been charged. Federal agents and police have made note of multiple ransom notes, with not all of those having been legitimate. As the police continue their search in collaboration with the feds, it’s been reported that Guthrie has enlisted private investigators and others to help.
On February 2, Savannah Guthrie confirmed she would be stepping away from her anchoring duties amid the search for her mother. The long-time media personality eventually returned to Today in early April, at which point she was greeted warmly by her colleagues. Since then, Guthrie has missed more air time due to the investigation and non-related reasons. She returned to the show following a brief hiatus near the end of June and, on air, Guthrie asked that viewers submit any information they might have on her mother.
Hoda Kotb covered for Guthrie for a while amid the latter’s absence, and both later took part in an emotional interview about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. Others have since been enlisted to lend a hand whenever Guthrie has needed to step away. It was recently reported that Guthrie stipulated to execs that she doesn’t want Kotb – who left the show in 2025 – to be the go-to for her absences, as she supposedly believes others can fill the void as well.
Apart from Savannah Guthrie’s work life, it seems evident that she and her family are determined not to give up hope in finding Nancy. What also seems clear is that all the while, they still have plenty of people in their corner to lend support and comfort.
