Or maybe you’d just prefer to spend the weekend watching old episodes of Buffy on Netflix but, wouldn’t you know it, you don’t have an Xbox Gold account. Well, no matter which of these two situations you find yourself in, the Xbox 360 has you covered through the weekend. PlayStation 3 Now Leading Netflix Provider Netflix is pretty much everywhere. And when it comes to streaming the world’s biggest instant movie/television provider to the masses, it looks like the PlayStation 3 is the king of the hill, being named the number one device for streaming Netflix content to televisions worldwide. Netflix Confirmed For PlayStation Vita Netflix is bringing their streaming television and movie service to another gaming device. Sony revealed during their CES press conference that their PlayStation Vita handheld will support Netflix in the United States. Xbox 360 Netflix Loses Party Mode The Xbox 360 version of Netflix always had one feature that made it stand out amongst all other platforms: Party Mode. Party Mode allowed players to chat with friends while watching the same streaming movie. However, the feature has been taken away in the latest update to the service. Netflix Offers Xbox 360, PS3, Wii Rentals Through Qwikster It was reported earlier here on Cinema Blend that Netflix apologized for their "arrogance" about cancelling DVD rentals, but they also aim to rectify their recent news blunder by starting a new service, which will allow for continued DVD rentals as well as video game rentals for the Xbox 360, Wii and PS3. Netflix Kinect Support Goes Live Starting today, the streaming Netflix service on Xbox Live utilizes Kinect technology. Kinect allows you to watch movies or television shows without using a controller. GDC 2011: Nintendo 3DS Has Netflix Support During Nintendo's GDC keynote, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced that the upcoming 3DS handheld will support Netflix's streaming TV/movie service. The service will go live this summer. Wii, PS3 Netflix Now Disc-Free To use Netflix's streaming service on your PS3 or Wii, you traditionally needed a special disc in the console. As of today, that's no longer the case. SRS 5.1 Surround Sound Partners With Microsoft Silverlight When streaming content to your PC, mobile phone or TV using the Microsoft Silverlight tech, you will now be able to do so with SRS 5.1 digital surround sound support. Wii Netflix Launches Today streaming movies and television shows are available through the Wii. The console's Netflix service is now available for subscribers. Wii Netflix Discs Now Shipping Soon Wii owners will be able to watch television shows and movies through their console. Netflix has begun sending out the instant streaming discs to select subscribers. Netflix Coming To Wii Netflix is making its way to a third console. The Wii will be able to access the streaming video service starting this spring.
