GameTap Cancelling Myst Online: Uru Live
Another GameTap title is on the way out. Over at the official forums, GameTap VP of Content and Creative Director Ricardo Sanchez announced the coming end to Myst Online: Uru Live. The game, created by Cyan Worlds and Rand Miller, was a new chapter – or age, if you prefer – in the Myst mythos.
When Uru saw little success and was canceled in 2004, the fans supported a version with no new content or updates. Cyan teamed with GameTap and revitalized the game in the form of Myst Online: Uru Live. The game has been running on the service since February 2007, and will see the plug pulled in sixty days.
"I know this is not the news fans of Myst Online wanted to hear. I want to thank all of you who have been extremely supportive of the game and made this grand experiment in an alternative MMO format so much fun. All of us at GameTap also want to thank you again for your tireless enthusiasm for the title,” Sanchez stated. He also said that the decision was based on business, and not in regards to the vision for the world by the developers.
