Kingdom Come: Deliverance Video Update Covers Alpha Release Date

Warhorse Studios has released a new video diary covering all the latest updates and news regarding their independently funded medieval simulator, Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

The video 14 minutes long and covers a good deal of content from the motion-capture process to the all new combat mechanics and quite a few things in between. The most important part of the whole video is Warhorse Studios' head-honcho Daniel Vava's shirt... #Based.

Apart from Daniel's shirt the video also makes it known that despite the minor delay they had with getting the alpha up and out to the public, but they're working on the core problems and balancing things out so that early backers will be able to dive into Kingdom Come: Deliverance with a very, very rough-around-the-edges alpha beginning October 22nd, later this month. If you're really into timers and counting down to moments of greatness, feel free to use the Online Stopwatch to track the progress... go on, no one will stop you from boxing up your excitement for the next 20 days.

Most interesting to me was the motion-capture studio setup. I was a little curious why exactly they decided to use the old ball-and-tag method instead of some of the newer 3D depth-perception techniques that have been pioneered by folks like iPi Soft? It just seems like a much cleaner and cheaper method than going through the whole suits, lighting and capture bulbs. So messy.

Anyway, it's at least good that the team is getting the motion-capturing done and advancing the way the game characters will move and interact with the virtual world. By the way, the whole concept of an autonomous A.I., system is just really cool. I'm totally digging this new breed of game where the NPCs are kind of their own thing and work apart from what the player-character does. It should make for some interesting stories and user videos.

They also discuss some of the game's ecosystem... having animals and wildlife populate the surrounding environment will make for some interesting gameplay. The “live your life” elements will also really add to the dynacism and breadth of the game's interactivity, much in the same way that the “go anywhere” and “do anything” mantra helped keep Elder Scrolls V alive and well for so many years after it released.

Finally, the brief showcase of the game's combat system kind of reminded me of games like War of the Roses and Chivalry. If you really want to go back old-school, you can see where it borrows from shades of Conqueror AD 1086 from Sierra On-Line. That game was righteously badass... I'm just saying.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance looks marvelous and isn't scheduled to release until holiday 2015. The game is set to arrive for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. You can learn more about the game by paying a kind visit to the official website.
