The DCEU continues to expand, and one of the most exciting additions to this silver screen universe is the introduction of Jason Momoa's Aquaman. Following his debut in Justice League, Arthur Curry will take center stage in James Wan's Aquaman in 2018. It will mark the first time that the character has ever had a story told on the silver screen, and that freshness really excites Orm actor Patrick Wilson. Wilson elaborated:

I think the lure of Aquaman [is] because he hasn't been overexposed on screen. And I don't know Jason -- I can't wait to meet him. I was a huge fan even from the first episode of Game of Thrones, so I'm in -- I'm in with him, and he's gonna be fantastic.

Patrick Wilson recently made an appearance on ABC Radio, and opened up regarding his excitement about taking part in the upcoming Aquaman movie. One of the biggest draws for him is the overwhelming story potential, as Aquaman has never really received any attention on the silver screen. Unlike characters such as Batman or Superman, there is no legacy for the character among mainstream movie going audiences, which means the movie will really branch out into new territory.

Patrick Wilson Aquaman

This makes plenty of sense, as Patrick Wilson is already known for portraying somewhat off-kilter characters in bizarre universes anyway. It also helps Patrick Wilson to know that he's going to have the opportunity to work alongside actors that he respects. He's a self-proclaimed fan of Jason Momoa's resume, and that enthusiasm (coupled with his reunion with James Wan) has helped him get excited for his upcoming stint as Orm.

But beyond the freshness of the story or the talent of his collaborators, Patrick Wilson also seems excited that filmmaking technology has finally advanced to the point where an Aquaman movie can actually work. He explained:

What's gonna be interesting is there hasn't been the technology to back up the storytelling, I guess, for Aquaman, until now.

Every year filmmaking technology gets better and better. As CGI and digital technology continues to advance, a movie like Aquaman actually becomes more and more feasible. Although comic book movies at one time had to remain grounded, they can now really branch out into some insane territory that was pretty much impossible years ago. With that in mind, Aquaman seems like a step towards bringing the more outlandish DC characters to life over the course of the next few years.

With an awesome cast and modern technology on its side, all eyes are on Aquaman to make a huge splash when it finally debuts. The film will hit theaters on October 5, 2018.
