Facebook gaming has gone sky high as Nexon releases Cloudstone, a point-and-click RPG featuring quirky characters adventuring through a lighthearted world. Cloudstone opened for beta recently, giving early adopters a chance to create their own avatar and explore the various worlds floating high in the clouds.
Cloudstone looks like a box of crayons threw up on the computer screen, which is actually a nice departure from the ulta-realistic, gritty titles that make up the majority of modern RPG titles. Everything is sugary sweet, including the enemies you'll be facing. With baddies like “bloops,” “fat bats” and “mud balls,” it's obvious that Cloudstone is squarely aimed at a younger audience, or anyone in need of a bit more whimsy in their fantasy games.
Three character classes are currently up for grabs, including the monk, warrior and wizard. Each has their own fighting style and abilities, which players will need to utilize in order to take on the game's current crop of 12 dungeons. Like any good RPG, levels can also be played at higher difficulties, meaning even better loot drops for the players.
The beta will also feature an item shop, a practice arena, a job board for taking on additional tasks, and a tavern where you can socialize with other players. You can even summon your Facebook friends' avatars to help you in battle.
The world itself is reminiscent of recent indie darling, Bastion, but populated by critters that would be right at home in any Saturday morning cartoon. Take a gander at the trailer below. If you're still interested, be sure to check out the Cloudstone Facebook page.
