This holiday season, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is the gift that keeps on giving, offering up a collection of six new multiplayer maps completely free of charge.

COD bless us, everyone. Starting next week, six remade multiplayer maps from the original Modern Warfare will make their way into the Remastered version of the game, nearly doubling the offerings at no additional cost to the player.

The six maps will include Bloc, Countdown, Pipeline, Showdown, Strike, and Wet Work, which should have little trouble stirring up even more nostalgia for old-school fans of the FPS series. They'll be available on all platforms free starting Dec. 13, which will push the game's online arenas from 10 all the way up to a sweet 16.

In case you're having trouble recalling some of those maps after years of being away from Modern Warfare, their new designs are shown off nicely in the above trailer, which was released by Activision yesterday. But that's not all that's coming in this free update. On top of the six maps listed above, a retooled version of Crash will also be on offer. It's called Winter Crash, and it features snow and plenty of lights and holiday decorations, because who doesn't want to plow down their enemies in a winter wonderland?

And in case you were hoping for more modes to play across all of those maps, it looks like the developers have you covered there, too, though the latest offerings don't actually come from Modern Warfare. On Dec. 13, players will gain access to two new play modes including Gun Game, which was introduced in Black Ops, and Hardpoint, which arrived in Black Ops 2. We're actually pretty excited to see other Call of Duty games bleed over into this remaster and wonder if other modes, or maybe even more weapons and maps, from other games will eventually make an appearance.

If you need a refresher on those modes, Gun Game was the nifty mode that starts everyone off with the same pistol. A kill upgrades you to the next weapon in the lineup while being killed by melee drops you back a level. As for Hardpoint, it's your basic zone capture mode. A team needs to claim a Hardpoint and keep their enemies out in order to earn points and, eventually, the round.

If you're feeling especially festive, a special map rotation will be offered in Modern Warfare Remastered following the DLC update, too. Starting Dec. 20, the "24/7 Winter Crash playlist" will be added to the rotation, letting players remain on that limited edition arena through multiple modes.
